ABOUT MEMy name is Corbin Henningsen and I am a therapist in the Oklahoma City and Edmond area.
I very much enjoy and feel very confident in helping people who experience anxiety, depression, and feelings related to past trauma. My area of focus is typically on helping men grow in areas such as self-esteem, assertiveness, healing from past trauma, and taking a stance of empowerment towards who they were made to be. However, my background also includes helping many diverse peoples of all ages, from teenagers to elders. While I started working as a mental health therapist in 2016, I began this practice in 2020 with the hope of helping people achieve some sense of freedom from their internal struggles in order to take steps toward new (or renewed) life purpose and values. I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ and do feel comfortable implementing aspects of faith, theology, and spiritual beliefs in therapy to the extent every person I work with feels comfortable. I have intensive training in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Model (a treatment that has shown evidence to help with anxiety and depression). I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and as a trained provider in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy for adults and teenagers who may be experiencing trauma reactions or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have also completed a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - a therapy that is designed to help children who may be experiencing PTSD or reactions from past trauma. All of that to say, I do strive for a simple and straight-forward approach to therapy and my overall goal is this: to listen intently and understand as we take steps toward what matters most to you and improving your quality of life. Some things I enjoy include guitar, running, and spending time with my family. We also love to serve in our church community. |
